Ms. Westall’s areas of practice include medical malpractice, transportation, construction, premises and product liability. Ms. Westall specializes in post-trial and appellate litigation, at both the state and federal court levels, including the preparation and filing of post-trial motions and briefs, supersedeas bonds, notices of appeal, appellate briefs and records, a wide variety of motions and petitions, as well as all levels of oral advocacy. She often coordinates with trial counsel to preserve issues for appeal and prevent waiver of meritorious claims. Ms. Westall has appeared before various appellate tribunals including, but not limited to, the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court, the Pennsylvania Superior Court, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Ms. Westall is also relied upon for her ability to obtain dismissal of claims during litigation through preliminary objections, summary judgment and pre-trial motions practice.
Ms. Westall has handled over 100 appellate matters. Some notable cases include: MIIX v. Epstein, 937 A.2d 469 (Pa. Super. 2007)(As doctors named by a hospital and its insurer in an indemnity/contribution action were never parties to an underlying medical malpractice action, the hospital and insurer had to present expert reports establishing doctors’ negligence, and failing to do so, summary judgment in favor of doctors was proper); McCrane v. Beck, 895 A.2d 656 (Pa.Super. 2006)(trial court initially granted nonsuit for the physicians, then ordered a new trial, but the appellate court vacated the order granting the new trial.); Matthews v. Beval Enters, 2006 Phila. Ct. Com. Pl. LEXIS 273 (Pa. C.P. 2006), aff’d without opinion at 918 A.2d 797 (Pa. Super. 2006)(directed verdict in favor of corporation).
Before becoming a litigation attorney, Ms. Westall worked as a judicial appellate court clerk for the Honorable Peter Paul Olszewski, Superior Court of Pennsylvania, which has led to Ms. Westall’s involvement in the appellate practice.
Ms. Westall also spends a portion of her time involved in civic duties, such as Montgomery County’s Child Advocacy program.
While in law school, Christina did a summer abroad in Beijing, China studying the revolutionary changes in Chinese law. She also contributed to the law school's legal journal, Juris, as a writer and assistant in editing. She is also a frequent writer and editor for firm’s legal publication In Summation. |
